A Christmas Gift

If I could have one Christmas gift
To give my heart and soul a lift
I’d ask to have my loved ones dear
Who’ve passed away to join me here

To share again a Christmas day
Like those that seem so far away
I’d love to watch Dad’s eyes so blue
See grand kids that he never knew

To feel my Mother’s warm embrace
And see again her smiling face
To hear my Uncle William joke
And smell the pipe he used to smoke

My Aunts and Uncles long since gone
Along with my favorite cousin Jon
Who died way back in sixty-four
Serving our country in the war

I’d see my Grandma once again
Sit dining here with all her kin
To see my children filled with awe
From family that they never saw

What a joy that scene would be
All gathered ‘round the Christmas tree
To see the old and new folks meet
Would make my Christmas gift complete

Sorry that poem was meant for the other 1 that you posted. This poem hit home for me. My holidays differ now with family gone. I understand this poem fully.

That one made me tear up a bit.  But good ones, you know?  I miss my parents the most at Christmas.  This would be my Christmas wish too, I think.
