Brought alive by summer’s wiles
little “Christmas beetles”
crash against the walls and doors
like the hoping against hope
for the final culmination
of the elements of need.

And in the manner of reality
life fragments the whole
and buries bit by bit
the need of this and that
until united they arise
in the spotlight of soul.

It’s the light, the light,
the bright light of desire,
that attracts this flitter-flutter
into the womb of hope
but there’s a switch in every heart
for those who love the dark,
the dark, the dark, the dark of lethargy,
that chooses not to move
to the rhythm of a need.

To find it, touch it, switch it off,
a crime for those alive
too scared to fly like beetles
in the light of love’s desire!

You are so right, Helen!  Gosh, I've missed you and this place and wish I could go back and read everything I've missed but I still have about three weeks before any real break.  Here's a few little "Christmas beetles" for you:              ...jo

Hi, Jo, and thanks for the beetles!  I too miss out a lot of reading but life has it's demands.  Hope all is well with you in between the "busyness" and I wish you a happy festive season.

Roniece - Thank you but, you know, being "first" in life isn't as important as just being there.
