I know of affirmations
that I should recite,
and even words I find absurd
incite me in the night.
My subconscious,
reprimanding,
living in the
flesh, demanding,
judge and jury
notwithstanding--

voices clamour in my mind.

Silences that should be kept
Stifled tears that should be wept
volcano grows
beneath the rug
where my memories were swept...

voices mocking in my mind.

Bridges leading anywhere
Taxi cabs are at my door
The roads curve long
in sweet "come on"
my soul in ache to taste of more--

voices wretched in my mind.

a very compelling and powerful read; when I read this, the force behind it swept me quickly forward and left its mark;

I love your poetry, Serenity!  Your words are perfectly chosen to move the reader in more than one way, with speed and emotion.

Great to read your poetry again.

You know the older Willy Wonka,
when they take the boat down the river,
the way I heard that line in my head
sounded like how he talks at that part,
if that makes any sense.

Anyhow, another great write lady.

Gosh I've missed reading in here lately.  Just snuck in here this early morn for a peak and look what I found!  Love this...and feel it, too.  You definitely have some empathy here, Ser.   ....jo

A 'write' that leaves one with so MUCH to think very carefully about!

especially excellent:

"voices clamour in my mind.

Silences that should be kept
Stifled tears that should be wept
volcano grows
beneath the rug
where my memories were swept..."

"voices clamour in my mind."

Oh god, in mine too!

Today they insist I stay home and clean the guns.

*smile*

It is a lonely mind wherein no voice speaks.

Thanks Babe, for getting me to read this morning!

Serenity...First let me say I really like the new photo.

This touches my heart deeply and opens old wounds but it serves as sort of a reminder because I have become numb to those old memories but deep in my mind there will always be a special place in my heart for her...Paul

Thank you all so much. It's an old poem, and I just switched a few words...I almost called it "tweaked"--but..smile...

I've been tweaking too long methinks.

Thanks you all for your gracious patience.

If you ever get tired of Mr. Wonka,
you can send him on up to Ohio.
I'd love to pick his brain.

Also, love the picture, lady.
