When I didnt know any better
You were there
She thought we needed to spend time together
For me to get to know you

All I kept from that experience
Was how not to go potty on myself
I must admit though,
To this day I still rely on that technique.

I remember as a child, the only gift I ever recieved from you.
A red fire engine that lit up and made noise
Somehow it ended up in the bathtub with me that night
And thats all I can really recall from those days in great-grannys house.

When I know better
You try to reconnect with me
Let me tell you now, its not gonna be that easy.
You've poisoned me against others of your kind
Even against the good ones that still do exist
How can "she" truly be happy if I act that way

For a while
You were just "that man"
Now I finally acknowledge you in my mind
Dont get me wrong, im not mad at you
I'm just past you.

As one who has always stood against chauvanism and for absolute chivalry and for individual and collective human rights and dignity, I could not possibly applaud this 'write' more!

Siyo CharmedOne it is good to forgive, even if one can not forget. For your own spirit to have peace we walk away at times from these things that tear our memories apart!
