Grandmother Said!

She sits alone in quiet contimplation this woman of another
generation, watching without speaking as time marches by her bringing
changes that are never for the better.
Liquid black eyes in a brown and careworn face that holds the
criss cross patterns of the passing days, what memories replay behind
the gentle patience that is her expression?
Still rising before the sun to greet her Creator the songs she
softly sings in her mothers language, asking her maker for things that
in this world no longer seem to matter.
Peace, honesty, respect, and loving, healing for her family and
friends, happiness, wisdom, and patience in the leaders, clean air to
breathe and living waters and freedom to dream of better things.
My heart cries as I watch her knowing she is preparing for a
journey I am not ready for her to take, what she sees around her that
is done to Mother Earth has done what nothing else ever could.
Her spirit feels so heavy from all the pain she has seen and
withstood, the children she has buried, and the hurt of her kin,she had
such hopes when she was younger that things would be better for her
grandchildren.
I see the silent tears make tracks upon her skin as she sings her
morning prayers with such deep feeling, she slowly turns in each
direction with such pleading in her voice seeking the power of
medicine that cures the whole worlds woes.
Shoulders slumped a little with all the worries she has bourn, the
new sun catching the silver in her hair she lifts her head and
smiles, the path she has walked has seen much trouble but her duty she
has done teaching her grandchildren to survive what is to come.
Singing now of beauty, hope, and love she wraps us both again in
sage smoke, quietly she wispers you will carry on from
here, grandaughter remember the stories of your kin.
The end of greed and hate you will see in your lifetime the pain
and predjudice will fade in the need to survive,do not look so
frightened child the tears are ones of joy though the time of
troubles will be something you can not ignore.
Walk the white path grandaughter and keep our memories alive, your
ancestors will walk with you as you enter a brand new time, trust in
Creator child and believe in His plan!

I would ask your permission to share this
with my mother-in-love, as I feel she
would gain some strength from this, and
some peace, as well, for she is now 98,
and needs to know that her station here
has been worthy, and honored.

Siyo SunShine it would honor me greatly for you to share this with another to bring comfort to her life. This is something each of our Elders and old ones should know, how deeply we are grateful for all they have given, shared, and taught to make our lives a little easier! One of the greatest shames I see in this country is the treatment of our old ones,we should always take the time to say thank you!
many blessings!

I could not possibly improve upon the comments already made about this 'write'!

I will simply add the descriptors: superb,
poignant, and extremely 'important'!

Wonderfully written poetic expression and much needed dialog for a world on the brink.

Thanks for sharing granny!

Siyo Secondhanddreampoet I am most honored by your words,my grandmother was in truth a tiny fighter her whole life but it was for peace and justice she fought. Simply wanting a better more caring world for all children to grow up in!
