DEAD END STREET

the sky
is a graveyard
of stars

the beach
is a desert

the cradle
is shaped
like a coffin
and rocked
by the elastic arms
of death

“I love you”
is the lullaby
that the frightened
sing
to the frightened

but there's something
to learn
from a dead end street

My heart skipped a beat and what of the child?
