I am the Shepard
          Of symbol and word
With staff and dogma
          I keep the herd

It feeds me and warms me
          And keeps me alive
They Isle me and wile me
          And help me survive

I am the Shepard
          And they are the tune
They lie in the fields
          I bay at the moon

It’s only a way of
          Expressing my goal
One of the paths
          That leads to my soul

And in the chaos of ferment grime
I change with the changing of time
