.

How much is your soul worth
now that it's been out there on the market,
I know you can feel it,
the pulse of the bargaining crowd,
is it allowed for anyone to bid?

Was it the diamonds
all fire without heat,
the house
stone pile excess,
perhaps the yacht
you hate sailing but love feeling the waves
when you are naked with Dom chilling in the pail,
the indulging car
you seldom drive,
the gamboling horse
that hardly knows you are alive,
days running one through the other
until another year's dreams are left undone?

Touch the walls
the sulky coarse and captive stones,
do they keep you in
or others out?

Press your naked flesh against them
beneath the glaring moon you once called friend
until they rend your pampered skin,
they are unyielding in their honesty,
karmic markers carved from granite
stolen from the earth beneath your feet.

The worth of the soul...

sigh

I think mine has spent too many lifetimes on flea market tables, next to carved coconuts and hula lamps--

This has quite the impact, though the white lines confused me a bit.

I am a rebel without a straw. *pout and wink*

Great imagery Icebox...  and my guess is
the white lines might be "coke" lines..
Just my guess.

nodding with Mag, I read it that way too, but for some reason, this time I also read "highway"--which is also pretty connotative.

"High Way"

heh

"Touch the walls

do they keep you in

A good question for many to think about.
