WWI Canadian soldier Thomas Stewart
Died in Flander’s Field, Belgium, in 1916

Blowing In the Wind
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

In dismal gray of rainy day,
a poppy-pinned lapel,
Reminds us all of Flanders Fields,
where lie the brave that fell.

A time for us to honour,
all those who fought and died.
Their loss was mourned by families,
as their nation’s peoples cried.

A war is so destructive,
~ No side can truly win.
Tears fall down from heaven,
as flags blow in the wind.

“The time has come for Man to lay down
his arms, and pick up each other.”
~ Linda L. Dowd

Sighing at this gentle and wise reminder, that there are no winners in war.

Thank you, dear Linda, for your sensitivity.

Love and hugs.

Yes, let us remember those who are and were so and let us learn what we can from our past.  A nice tribute, Linda.

Margherita ~

From one sensitive soul to another, I thank you for your continued support and show of appreciation for my poetic efforts.

War is truly futile and such a waste of humanity.

This is simply beautiful! I have just returned from visiting the war graves in Omaha France where 10,000 US men and women are buried - so sad to think that their families are so far away...it was a truly emotional experience for me and I'm pleased I went there..  lives lost at what cost?

Be well

sewasham ~

Thank you, Steve. Every November 11, at least where I live, I find it uncanny how the weather is usually dismal and gray ~ reflecting the mood of the day.

Roniece ~

I can well-imagine how emotional that experience must have been for you. War is such a waste of humanity. There truly are no winners.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I was good to hear from you.

Love, Harmony, & Peace,

Linda

Our past has so much greatness shored within,
doesn't it?  I think so.
