.

How to explain
What effect
That gibbous moon

Its stolid light
Upon the Earth
Without comment
Or alarm

The old man carries on
Though nothing seen
Is ever new

His orbit a habit
Grown over time

A certain sadness
In how he moves

the  moon, the old man, "his", "he"  could be all the same thing, or could be different.

"his" could be moon
"He" could be the old man.

whatever I read, it is a poem about aging.
