Cloak my sorrow in the shadows
Hide self-pity in despair
Bury me beside regrets
I called but she’s not there

Paint my face with lies of laughter
Paper over all I’ve done
Count the eyes that see and love me
But stop when you reach none

Wash the stains that life has left me
Bind my wounds that touch the bone
Bathe me in a brook of promise
Just don’t leave me alone

Tell the world in twelve-foot letters
This fool is broke beyond repair
I’ll cloak my sorrow in the shadows
I called but she’s not there

~ I really enjoyed this and have been there before. The last stanza was my favorite.
