With eyes deceptively open
I thought myself in control; dangerously
turned on and off the Light of the Son
to suit the satisfying of my desires.

As I set about finding a way around
the barricades with which I was
continually confronted; deception glazed over
the harm that came to myself and others.

But when doused in a darkness,
out of my control; when even sunlit memories
were stripped from my reach, I stumbled and hurt,
recovered to stumble again.

Demons mercilessly jabbed at faults
real and imagined and prodded me
towards guilt traps that I
obligingly fell into.

When choices ahead seemed slim
and going backwards yet more hopeless;
when the enveloping darkness
swallowed all clues of direction

I at last grasped the need for a Savior
held on for dear life and turned
toward a Guide, not seen,
but trusted.

Well writ!

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Our Saving Grace may not be seen, but His presence is felt and He never fails us when we reach for Him. We are then delivered from the Dark into the Light.

God's Loving Light,

EA

I was ‘drawn’ to this poet’s choice of “UserName”......

this ‘bright Voice’ did not ‘disappoint'...
a poem of luminous ‘enlightenment’ from
a “clear flame’s” heart and spirit!
Deeply touching; truly uplifting....
a 'candle' in my darkling day!....

I'd like to share all
that I'm thinking, but...

You know, that I know.
