Where was the black in you?
Suppressed? How forceful;
A parade of gleaming white, false.
And yet oh how you hurt me!

Coming so close, I closed my eyes,
Preparing for an embrace, a kiss.
But you have such eyes now, different then.
Emotional atrophy. Push me away!

I have wished, never dreamt, of your attraction.
Where are the eyes I knew?
Once, once only.
When you said spontaneously: Okay.

Like a shock of cold water--expecting the kiss, and finding the stranger.

"Emotional atrophy."

"Where are the eyes I knew?"

~ Uniquely expressive lines.
