Many of you have come along
on my journey through the years,
you've been there on the peeks of joy
and down in the depths of valleys of tears.

You've known me better than I knew myself,
more than the people I see day to day,
always there to give a comforting hug
or a kick in the pants along the way.

You knew I was in love with a married man,
you saw my dark and kept the fire lit,
you were with me through all the growing pains,
you were there when hurricane Ivan hit.

You held me close when I became another,
when my life was a bottle of alcohol,
when I lost myself and went to the edge
then tumbled over into a rock-bottom-fall.

You were there when I got back up,
you helped me see the need to pray,
you cheered when I found the strength
to pack and move a thousand miles away.

Life's changes are so much easier
when shared with people such as you-
I am blessed to have old friends here
and just as blessed to embrace the new.

thank you

You know, in all sincerity, I admire you.  And did even before I knew what you write of here.  You show a strength and honesty in your writing - and I am finding it a true pleasure to get to know you.

Thank you - and I do thank you.  Oh, and good poem too (smiles)

I think this is what Passions is all about.
Poets meeting friends..friends becoming a family of sorts.
I remember all the times you talk about in your poem Dixie.
We were there, yes, and always will be,
as I know you would be for any one of us.
I'm so proud of the courage and strength you have developed.
Heart Hugs, Nancy

Just as we each must take the blame for our own failures, we must take credit for our own accomplishments. The latter is sometimes harder than the former.

You have given back far more than you have ever taken. You are an inspiration to many of us here. I think maybe you should view yourself as we do.

It is a pleasure to call you "friend". Thank you for all you do for each of us here, each day, just by being Dixie.

Darlin' Dixie, 'tis no wonder why we all love you so much! Not only have you been a wonder of a work in progress ~ so to speak ~ you have been learning as you have been growing!

You are a thousand-petalled lotus unfolding before our eyes! You also share sides of you, some of which there is some in each and every one of us! ~ the good, the bad, and the ugly! It's all those things that make us human.

With your openess and honesty and sharing your life with us, you illustrate the strength of the human spirit and that no matter how far we may fall, we can rise up from the ashes like the proverbial phoenix.

You are an inspiration!

From one who cares and has given you the occasional "kick in the pants",

Linda

Dixie Chick,
Honesty. It's a good policy that makes a great foundation for friendship. Survival. Something you can do much better with friends. Rock on girl, I know what you mean.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I was quickly drawn to the 'UserName':
"passing shadows" and read "Under Construction" and now, this poem!....
This special lady is obviously a lovely friend here in this wonderful 'family'
(circle) of grand, true (passionately poetical) friends.....
She paints pure emotion/feelins' via direct truth in fine, plain language! (somethin' I have yet to learn how to do!) I'm truly impressed!

I am very honored to be called your friend, Sweetie. You know what friendship is because you are such a good friend to others. I've known from the time I met you here that you will always be there. Thank you, too, Dixie.

Dear Dixie, that was just beautiful, thank you for sharing your life with me and the many others who care about you, you have travelled a journey and found different roads to take and other friends to make. Remember we are always there, feeling sorrow and pain, reflecting parts of it to ourselves and what life has dished. Nice to find rough roads can become smooth, though you may have to veer and take a right or a left turn. You have seen the light and future while many of us still seek and question.
Thank you for your sharing of life, time and experience, of showing truth and courage, you rock.

Sincerely
Rick

Hello Ethel, my friend! Nice to see you! Glad that I can call you a friend, indeed. Thank you for sharing the years.

Rick, I knew you'd get to this   You are a wonderful long-time friend and you were one of the first ones I thought of when I began to run the mental list of who, here, has been in my life the most. Thank you

Dixie, I have been  really busy ( mostly exhausted going from one 3 month job to the next and driving twice the distance)

I just wanted you to know I appreciate your friendship and when I have a bit more time to relax and enjoy reading I will be responding more. I catch bits and pieces very early in the morning...when my computer isn't stalling out
Glad to see you are doing well and expressing it here.

Pressie, welcome to Passions! The history is not archived here but I have let so much of myself out on these pages over the past 7 years that the old-timers know me pretty well and the new ones are getting to know me. I am glad to meet you and am looking forward to getting to know you
