assets and liabilities
are terms best left
on the accounting room floor,
like old has-been punch cards...
folded, spindled, mutilated castaways,
of data entered that was filled with nonsense

the numbers and words don't compute
the total loss
is no accounting game
and adjustments cannot
make it add up to love
when your heart is filled
with bitter red ink thoughts
that have nothing to do with
reality
and you know,
I would have walked
to the ends of the Earth alongside you,
but you buried my heart
when you said you did not trust me,
though you had incorrectly
entered erroneous numbers
and said you were not willing
to take on anymore
'liabilities'
as you unfairly compared me
to others
who have drained you

yes, my love

you are drained
and dry docked,
it seems without the ability
to accept someone such as myself,
someone who offered you
unconditionally
a forever kind of love
and friendship

yes, you are drained
far more than I realized
and I had foolishly believed
we actually held the heart of the moon
within our fingertips,
as we sang a harmony
that was so sweet,
so passionate,
so connected

but now the notes
are harsh and bittersweet;
yet this fool still holds
the sound of you
so deep within
the confines of her heart

that a veritable flood of tears
cannot release the ocean of pain

even so,
I am filled with love
and can do nothing
but drown

Midnitesun
You have made a jewel out of exquisite pain.
Well done.

Thank you SEA and SY.
I learned to tread water and float years ago.
I will be OK.
