When you’re fifty something
and feel life’s passed you by -
It isn’t time to sit at home
and sigh. Or wonder why
It’s a time for moving
– for grooving with your heart
It’s a time for reaching out -
to make new memories start

When you’re fifty something
you’re really very young,
for there are some dreams yet to dream
and songs that are not sung.
It’s time – imagination
will lead to freedom’s path
and you can gladly shake away
the gloom. –Pain’s aftermath.

When you’re fifty something
though joints and bones my creak
it isn’t time for moaning
or bedroom  solace seek.
It’s time to stretch those muscles. -
Expand horizons too,
then who can tell what paths you’ll tread
to make the old turn new?

When you’re fifty something
your life has just begun
no ties or binds now hold you
it is a time for fun,
for sharing with your comrades
who have their tales to tell
while laughing at the slings of life
they know  - that all is well.

Now you’re fifty something -
forget the past and live
you have so much yet to receive –
you have so much to give.
I’m glad you’re fifty something
and it’s because you’ve learned
there’s warmth beside a friendly hearth –
despite the past that burned

May you be fifty something
until your end of days
and may the friendships from this time
still set you heart ablaze.

Happy Birthday Suthern

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

She's a dear....and to be her friend is an honor as well as a blessing....I most definitely count it so.

I like the light-hearted feel of this.  Being 50 something is a good thing.

A belated hug, honey!

"Fifty Something For Suthern".....

I'm thinking that fifty-something OF Suthern would be about right, for starters......yeah, the world definitely could use a few more of her....

Kethry, any reply that I could write would be inadequate in expressing my admiration for you as a poet and as a woman.

This beauty is being given a home in my trove of poetic treasures.

Might I also add that both you and Suthern are treasures of the human variety!

Beloved one YOU know I love this. As always you are more than talented and I wish I had written this, so how about leaving your talent here for me to borrow for awhile.
Love you always
like you forever

Headed toward 59 and still perking....

50 something is not bad at all....

And I would treasure that poem, because it
was written from a dear person who thinks
a great amount of you.

I will never forget sitting there talking with you... and seeing a look come over your face that made me know that poetry had joined us... even before you made a dash for the computer. *S* Thank you so much, dear friend... meeting you was and will remain one of the great joys of my life. *S*

And many, many thanks to everyone for such wonderful birthday wishes... I'm grateful! *S*
