When my time has come
and green eyes finally close
I would ask this of life,
to please leave, just one rose.

Lay it softly against my cheek
so that I might feel
that the love of one,
at least was real;

that my time here on earth
hasn't been all for naught
that I might be held in the heart
of one and not be forgotten.

If upon tomorrow
it is my time to go
I pray that someone might leave
just one rose.

Oh, dear (((((Donna))))), this is deeply melancholic and poignant.

You are such a beautiful soul and you are loved by many, not only by one. Trust!

I love you.

A simple wish, perhaps, yet containing within the sum of life's most desired yearning.

Lovely lovely dear Donna~Sending you roses from my heart.

No spring, nor summer beauty
hath such grace...
As I have seen in one autumnal face.

Let us hope that this is how it is...

I hope to write a letter...keep it for that
day and have it read to those who I love..
(IF any are present)....

Where did you find this lovely,
little one?  Buried in your ancient
treasure of writings?

It is so very much you,
and so very much, Sealed
with a kiss....

I couldn't help but think
of that song...

because when I hear it, I would
have written this
had I thought to do so...
during such a feeling....

Thank you, and hugs to all.     Karilea, nope, this is a new one.  Don't ask where it came from, it just came and I didn't fight it.  I dunno, I thought maybe that part of me was in hiding now or something, but at any rate, it came....I wrote...  grinz.

This is lovely and I know the rose will be one of sheer perfection -- the most beautiful to be found.

I find it best just to accept the feelings and write the words as they come. There is a tenderness in your words!
