Off-Keyed

I wake with the ache
of tomorrow.
My dressing disheveled
in the rise.
I wear the fatigue
of unsettled,
in the redness of
hazeling eyes.

Reflections are those
of unwanted.
Ghost-like, contoured
by the age.
The rug is pulled out
from my under,
as I watch from behind
theater's stage.

With make up and tweaking
I settle
for the facade that tomorrow's
hope brings.
But the notes always seem
to turn sour
"The lasting of" (lost thoughts)
no one sings.

Maureen, I always sing your praises, disheveled or not, and I am NEVER off key

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Yes, sometimes it takes a while to get aligned to the glory of each new day, for glory it is ...

and you sing beautifully, dear Maureen!

Excellent write.

Love and hugs.

You may feel "off-keyed" but your pen has marvellous rhythm and rhyme!
