Posts 2995Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy! |
Tattered plastic blows in the winter gales Snow swirls around weathered log walls Creating dunes of white Banking them higher and higher Against frost-painted windows The murky day is painted black As night creates a curtain of false warmth Music soars to a crescendo While dried spruce pops in the fireplace Sparks spiral up the stovepipe To flirt with the wind Blankets piled high in drafty bedrooms And night is filled with raging taunts Howling, shrieking, relentless Battling with fierce determination Lights flicker, off – on – off – on Off Soft hissing comforts those with books on waiting laps The Coleman lantern offers muted invitation And pages, once again, turn silently While January cries. aziza |
