Deeper Than You Can See

It is the kind of sunset, when the clouds hold their breath
The sun wanders above, darting a last word at every opening
Much as a woman, never wanting there to be a last word

The underbelly grows full, and deep gray blue, holding back
Holding back a closing lid upon this day, holding back another say
Discretionary views, October hymns in November hues

Much like me of the same cloth, same force of will, same wait until
Who would know what percolates behind these clouds and cotton sails
The fullness where my heart prevails, each footfall light on two tone trails

Ancestors all; wind, water, sky and earth; the remnants twined upon my birth
Gathered in a shower of stars, beyond the full black sea of spaces graces
Chapters of my own story, written in pictogram, glyphs that know the lines

Contour and soul of your eyes, feather of lips sweep the places I’m wise
Shall I be velvet or silk in the undoing of fate or of love, soft surprise
Or the wound of the kite to the cloud, singing relentlessly loud

But for the silence sworn upon the rite of passage, vital in its message
Day is done, with but the final veil to fall and claim the end has come
Most beautiful release upon the setting of an autumn sun
