Lamp Within My Soul

The time will come,
the day your eyes will truly be green.
Each emerald in two shining to face,
where your smile will be a light.
The lamp within my soul.

A soldier without a prison,
a concentration camp never taken.
Thus comes enlightenment,
clearly in the spelling of your name.
To look, to know, love was an horizon of hope.

This time to enhance a universe of suffering,
nothing to impeach, justice to surrender.
In the knowledge, God was in the house,
this placement of two in heart to hold handsomely.
A wonder a truth, this love in faith of proof.

To see you there, a touching of flesh upon flesh.
Those eyes gifted, and a smile true to birth.
Many years of parting, long before the Son.
This Christ in saviour, the time we embrace,
the day your eyes will truly be green.
To enlighten the lamp within my soul.
