Misty Harbor

There’s a quiet little seaport in a town that’s very near
Where I will go to contemplate while sitting on the pier
In summer when the sun is warm, I watch the boats go out
I’ve come to know the seamen and they always give a shout

The people of this harbor town are quick to give a smile
Their old town charm and pleasantry can easily beguile
I like to stroll around the town and visit the small café
The waitress takes my order without hassle or delay

At evening time out on the pier I watch the boats return
The water softly sparkles from the running lights that burn
It amazes this old country boy to see the evening catch
As they lift the daily bounty through the open cargo hatch

But I especially like to visit in the autumn of the year
To me that’s when the magic of this place starts to appear
The fog rises from the water like a vine upon an arbor
And gives a truly ethereal look to this beautiful misty harbor

This special place sounds lovely Steve. You have written of it very well. Enjoyed. Chris

Steve~
You have such an easy rhymical way of presenting your poetry~
This is another perfect read-aloud piece~
What melodic flow~

There is something magical about mist... I know the dangers it presents... but to think what it shrouds... the possibilities are endless! *S*
