if what you want is king
throw the lady a fish
it a fresh one
caught and served
without being frozen
without additives
without color
there's natural color alright
the color of flesh
when it's young
scales  scraped
what you want is...
a fresh fish
fresh as morning herring
but fish upon that..
what will swim away
unless you catch
a pickled variety
of a spotted batch
soaked in vinagrette soup
served as garnished
entrails left for feline friends

lady returns home
fish in newspaper
story of a seaman
repeated fishtale
written overs the ads
the catch is wrapped
nibbled the lobe fins...
threw away the paper
the news chucked aside
the hook of the tale?
it was the penned note
discarded with the bones
for the pride of fish
varnished trophies..
the seaman wanted her love
when he tossed the gift.

some interesting visuals here
throw out the news, keep the fish
why not?
though I've no doubt missed the 'hook' or meaning

I owe you on that Nancy, I was a tad sloppy in this one and wanted to end the poem clearly
