A Sweet Dream
Gymnopaedies

Softly, slowly, she danced for me.

I fell in love with her in a dream.
Beguiled, I smiled.
Beautiful skin like Devonshire cream.

She's gone: I'm completely alone.

Beautiful dream girl I know you're real.
But no one else could know how I feel.

Now I’m alone. You're gone--gone with the dawn's light.
My happiness fades with the dimming stars.

Softly, slowly, she danced with me.
She yearned to be with me, so it seemed
--And loved me? How could it be?--

She saw the bright sky; morning was nigh;
Shed tears, said softly, "Don't cry."
Gone were the moon and the stars from the sky,
She kissed me so sweetly, a final goodbye...

Then comes the dawn's light--bittersweet, bright,
As the cruel day shatters a sweet dream.

I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran

Well written JL.  Could feel the mist of the morning rise.
We should always pay attention to our dreams...they are the map that fate uses, to fulfill our wishes.

Hi, Honeybunch.

Yes, it can make me tuck my head under the covers in a fit of pique!

Hi, TD.

Oddly enough, I rarely ever have any dreams that I remember.  Usually, I have memorable dreams only when I am ill or extremely stressed from lack of sleep.

Thanks for your comments!

Thanks for writing, Becky!

Yes, all too soon my dreams, the ones that I can remember anyhow, abruptly end.

Hi, TL.

It was a song/poem that I wrote for a very beautiful pice of music, Gymnopaedies, by Erik Satie.  It is a very sad/poignant piece of music that is generally played solo, and quite hauntingly, on a grand piano.

It is so beautiful that it can bring tears to your eyes just by listening to it.

Thanks for nice words (sorry for the tears!).
