The Magic of a Springtime Zephyr

A wistful breeze blows,
enticing sad, weary minds
to hearken old, faded dreams;
as memories of springtime
recall our lost, childhood joys.

Pale daylight lingers,
coaxing our reveries home
to where silence waits;
none leave but the faint of heart,
as magic is in the air!

The breeze whispers, "Comeā€¦,'
and our feet slowly answer.
Steps growing lighter
as a long lost spring returns
to cushion aged footfalls.

Aches and ailments fade,
and clothing feels ill-fitted,
as years slip our frames.
Minds and hearts shed fears and pains--
for magic claims all sorrows.

Springtime zephyrs cry:
"Abandon winter's mad grief!
Youth is free of want
in springtime's charming embrace,
and nothing but joy remains!"

Logic falls from grace,
as innocence is reclaimed.
Youthful zeal returns.
As laughter rings from on high,
an ageless Kingdom awaits.

I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran

John...one to other, beautiful and completely un-contrived as sometimes counting can be.  Enjoyed!

Thanks, Martie!

I worked hard on this one, and rewrote many individual Tankas many times.  But then, as always, I wanted everything to be as perfect as is possible.

I'm glad that you like it.

HAHAHA!

Hi, EA.

That's a great response!  I hope that the zephyrs are kind to you, too!

Hi, TL.

Oh, dear!  I didn't mean to ruin your whole evening!  You've read a superperfecta of my saddest, most poignant poems!  What can I do to make it up to you?

:-(
