The ogre in the allotment
fingers green,
deflowers the beds,
uprooting trees
in barking mood
lays the weeds low.

Forking holes with sharpened tines
beneath each bush,
to sap the fruit
and watch it bleed
fresh tears into a furrow.

He trains the wildness to the hoe,
rapes the bloom,
unearthing seeds
in senseless need
then grunting leaves
the bluebells to their sadness
heads hung low
and willow weeping.
