I am sure I am a stranger to most of you, that is because I always post in the teen forum, but this one does not fitinto that forum, so I decided to post it here.

The blue eyes of the man
Have faded over time,
For he was sent away
When he was in his prime.

The years of his youth
Are lost with the pain.
He went away,
And was never the same.

Now he sits in his chair.
We can not pretend to know why
He is there for his own reasons,
Unlike you and I.

He has seen what we hope
We will never have to see.
He has fought for the rights
Of you and me.

His thoughts are elsewhere
On this remembrance day,
He remembers his friends
Who have long past away.

He tries to forget
The noises at night,
Or the other mens faces,
He was forced to fight.

He has done his part
For this country of ours.
The evidence of this
Lies in emotional scars.

So he sits there
He does not make a sound,
But what he has done for us
Is over profound.

The blue eyes of the man
Have faded over time,
For he was sent away
When he was in his prime.

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."
Jimi Hendrix

Memories unfaded behind faded blue eyes, and broken hearts blown to bits with shrapnel.  Our young men pay a heavy price. And I'm ashamed that for the times they have not been appreciated, thanked, nor remembered.  It happens. And they are never the same for our sakes.

Thank you so much for sharing this!

Hello, pip_man!

This surely is a poem to remember! Filled with empathy and appreciation for those who have sacrificed so much.

A truly moving piece of writing!

Hope you plan to post some more of your work in Open!

Loving Light,

Earth Angel
