The world spins around like a silly clown
trying hard to pull laughter from crowds
for this is the rope that tethers and ties
the earth to its place in the sky.

Too sporadic the open and unabashed smile
and the mirth of spiritual wiles
that crinkles the eyes, wrinkles the cheeks,
and dances the heart into blessed release.

And so with each spin a web of hope
of intense and immeasurable scope
rises up from the ground like a flame
to lick at the downcast dismayed.

Sometimes it burns an insatiable yearn
for love to slow down the turn
until I can know that laughter today
keeps the earth turning my way.

How sharp the intrusive stab of a frown
that wounds and confuses the ground
until like a fox in a forest of men
it runs until … I don’t know when!

Helen  Those L words...love and laughter sure keep the spin more even when chaos is all around.

Hi, Honeybunch.

This is a whimsical and thoughtful write.  The world is spinning at your behest.

Darn frowns are only smiles turned upside down, but man can they be downers - I loved this and its message Helen.
