Last Days Of Autumn

Gone is an Indian summer’s chance,
to singe the blaze in one final dance,
of heated hue ; last days to remember,
before the chill of virgin November.

Iced rains of fall, her death approaching,
as rigor comes slowly encroaching,
upon last leaves, that lie crushingly still,
awaiting winter’s bleak white seed to spill.

Enjoyed the read!  At least with the seasons we know that "goodbye" is not for ever.

Dixie,

Thank you for the nice comment! I'm always so glad to see you've stopped in!

Kate,

Thank you, too! I've missed being about. A second job has cut my free time. I manage to peek in during the wee hours at times. I do want to tell you how much I love the variety your work is showing. Absolutely breathtaking!

Helen,

I've never quite looked at the seasons change along those lines, and I must say, it is a perfect way to view them! Thank you for the comment as well as the insight!

Sandra

Thank you Marge. You are always a warm smile on the chilliest of Autumn's days.

How lovely, and yet melancholy this is Sandra.
Very well expressed indeed.

Nancy,

Melancholy is just what I was shooting for. Nice to know I made it somewhere near my mark! Thank you!
