soft periwinkles wink at me
flowers in the garden
in colors to adore
hard periwinkles at the seashore
sand and sea wonderments
in shapes to adore

a periwinkle mood
sets the tone of my space,
winks me into night's deep blues,
sets the prevailing pace
as a smooth mauve sunset unfolds

I become quiet...

I like your periwinkles
both soft and hard Kacy
and the soothing flow of this...

Hello, friends! Thanks for the visit.
Ladies, you are always sharing beautiful soft sunset words, so it's not surprising you liked this scene.
Martie, it's one of my favorites too, and my daughter's. It has a magical feel to it.
Sy, never had that soup, was it colorful too? LOL

an interesting plant, the periwinkle--

"Like many herbs, periwinkle once had ties with magic and superstition. Supposedly the herb could ward off evil spirits, and in some places lesser periwinkle was held that no witch would dare enter a home where it hung at the entrance. In France the flower of lesser periwinkle is sometimes referred to as violette des sorciers, or "violet of the sorcerers.""

I had 'em all over the place, m'self. So the legend of warding off witches is either incorrect, or rumors of my witchiness are highly exaggerated.

A lovely plant, low maintenance, seemingly benign, they do however, have very real and practical medicinal qualities as well.

I found them to be a very pretty addition to my landscape, too. I wouldn't advise playing herbalist with this one though, as they can indeed be lethal when taken internally.

heh.

A nice posie of one of my favorite flowers, as written by one of my favorite poets.
