Only a day ago seems a distance
I can only remember in the aftermath
of futile walks along the sands
of the river flowing through the city.
Surrounded by the sounds of industry
reaking its music upon the morning
light, false beauty in the colors
the smog makes of the sun.
The river is mud colored, swift
and silent in fury, reaching out to
try and calm your nerves with the
poison that rests in its depth.
Follow her downtown and history slams
you, not knowing how to feel,
or justify the emotions that reep
over your soul in the bitter light.

Once, I lived in that beautiful valley...
So sad to know it has been sacrificed.
Well done.
