from your lofty height
your afixed gaze will follow
those who worship in despair,
and those who dream in hope;
your beauty perfection decrees -
yet the mould that cast your image
far removed unnoticed walks
among the spellbound lot

but I see that faint smile
in the corner of your perfect mouth
for you know,
as you look down at those
below,
they too are no less pretenders -
for your make-believe
is but a mirror of their own

then,
if I be a moth,
for this beauty
I wish not to die.
