A Poem for Only Me!

I wrote a poem for only me
With help from a dic-tion-ar-y.
With words so large and lines so long
That no one heard its soulful song.

With hithers, doeths, and the like,
With lemmings, woodchats and a shrike,
With comeths, goeths, and the rest,
The oddest words I liked the best.

So now I sit and read this tome
--My wonderful but wordy poem--
And share it not with those who jape
At words that wove my lovely crepe.

And wrap myself within its folds,
My swollen head it barely holds.
Yet swollen not from pride, you see,
But massive words I share for free.

With mighty pen I vent my rage,
And so I put them on a page.
These words that none but I can read,
I hoard with joy to sate my greed.

When finally the work is done,
Then so begins my greatest fun.
To see if mortals unlike me,
Can grok this poem and plainly see

That I am master of my realm.
My weighty words their minds do whelm.
And so I rest, my mind content,
That none will understand my bent.

I gloat at last, my job complete.
I hear the masses cry and bleat:
“We do not understand your rhyme!”
I laugh, then shout, “I won! ...This time...!”

Pinky: Gee, Brain, what are we going to do tonight?
Brain: The same thing we do every night, Pinky: try to take over the world!

such a lovely bouncy poem.
Swollen head from big words? That explains a few things about some of the people I know.
Then again. It doesn't.
Maybe I didn't understand your rhyme, but I much enjoyed the first I've read of you.

Thanks, playing.with.crayons.

I was in a pouty mood, so I was writing a silly poem, and thumbing my nose at the naysers--friends of mine who said that I used "difficult" words sometimes!  Consequently, and to stop their kvetching, I wrote this poem to poke fun at everyone--but most of all, myself.

Hi, TL.

Yes, my pouty moods often do wonders for my muse.  Hmmm.  Does that mean that I have a pouty muse?

Hi, Marge!

I'm glad that you peeked, because now that it's too late to rename it, I was going to call it, "A Poem for EVERYONE!"

I grok your poem.   Everything I ever wrote was only for me.  But I always like to hear other people's take on my words, so I expect you won't mind knowing that this one made me smile.

Hi, Pilgrimage.

I "grok" your comments, too.  That was an age/SF nerd test!  You passed!

Thanks for making ME smile!

Hi, Kira.

That is such a nice thing to say!  I do try my hardest.  It's nice to know when one's work is appreciated.

Thanks,

John
