I Saw Them

today I saw them
screaming bent in a V
foreigners returning
in a ballet of season
speaking unknown language
and I don’t know why
but I get this profound
sense of sadness
what is the reason
as days grow shorter
painfully as the sun
moves further away
the grass grows tall
and in the wind songs
breeze tumbles restlessly
between the blades
reminding me I have killed
more flowers than I saved
the afternoon goes talking
where it before melted
a liquid passion into sultry
rain that evaporated now puddles
air soon will unroll from the north
to tighten my skin in draft
for today I saw them
and I
am falling

I sent them down with lots of kisses and hugs as they passed   so no sadness there my friend

but yeah, I know what you mean...this time of year is just bluesy ain't it?

Hi, 1slick_lady.

I think that I saw them pass overhead here, today.  However, they won't be stopping where I live!  I live in the desert, and winter's chill brings the temperature all the way down to a freezing 80°F--BRRRRR!!!

Loved the melancholy poem...

John

Pinky: Gee, Brain, what are we going to do tonight?
Brain: The same thing we do every night, Pinky: try to take over the world!

You saw them returning...

I saw them leaving...

Yet, same effect.

Good write.

"the afternoon goes talking

I love this Helen
I won't see them either
except those you show me...
