The Truth about Muhammad

An author named Robert Spencer
wrote a book titled "The Truth
about Muhammad" and says he has
already been threatened by
Islamic extremists.
Personally, I'd like to know
the truth about Muhammad.
People freely write and talk
of Jesus and Buddha and neither
one of them, nor their followers
seem to have a problem with that.
Why is the truth about Muhammad
a forbidden subject?

Would that be The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion? I have to say having read one his books that the man is guilty of gross generalization, selectively picking evidence and creating unwarranted conclusions from said "evidence".

I appreciate the thought behind this poem but the belief that:

"People freely write and talk
of Jesus and Buddha and neither
one of them, nor their followers
seem to have a problem with that."

I have to say, is to me, a pleasant fantasy. You may be lucky enough not to know some of the more, I'll be polite and say "fervent" people of different faith that I do.

"Why is the truth about Muhammad
a forbidden subject?"

I do not belive that it is. As long as the "truth" is not deliberately inflammatory material, published merely to cash in on the current climate of xenophobia. The mans writings on Islam apply only to fanatics and has more to do with politics then a serious study of a religious institution.  The sad truth is that there are fanatics to be found under any religious symbol of monotheism (or any other symbol for that matter).

"Those who say religion has nothing to do with politics do not know what religion is."
Gandhi

I am sorry for the rant James, but as you can see your poem made me think, so I must conclude that it did it's job.

"The world won't end in darkness, it'll end in family fun
With Coca Cola clouds behind a Big Mac sun."

Thank you Lady for the nice response...
When you read storys seeming to indicate that Islamic extremist don't like you to say anything about Islam or Muhommad, and you read storys that apparently any word that comes out of your mouth is considered bad, because you are a christain, a jew, an infidel, and then you watch the news and gain information that plans were being made to park limo's under buildings to kill people and create terror, it makes you think...what is the truth about Muhommad....James
