Salient

There must be water to make steam
Gray has reined impatiently for days
Full cheeked, spouting deluge, then drizzle
Only to be dried by the soft smile of the sun

In and out of time, skipping record, fall’s behind
Wondering if there is a clear decision left
Too long, restricted to the sidewalk of a casual glance
Turning with the leaves, to my own colors bright

I need you here with me tonight, a space for only us
Unimpaired by the restraint of surface platitude
Disappointment is but the tail of a comet, in betrayal’s latitude
Let me love with my whole heart, my all and nothing less

Listen to the whispers of my warrior spirit; the moons digress
The Huntress hums in burgundy gown on clover bed
Never to harm a moment made red in the autumn sunset
Looking down upon my own appointed form, I fear touch

Insincere, the fumbling flash of harsh, abrasive hands
Eloquent, the nomenclature friend but why would one pretend?
A checkpoint in between the chasing of perceived victories
In as much as intimate could be known or sought in emptiness

Listen, listen to the depths of the love I wish to give
Watch me blossom ‘fore your eyes, this dream to live
There must be water to make steam, fire in the scheme
Let love be all that it is, and nothing less…nothing less
