On the surface,
I look like I've just been to the circus.

On the inside,
I look like the aftermath of a train wreck.

These masks I wear to hide my tears,
to hold onto what I shouldn't bother holding dear.
To tears and memories, which should just fade away.

Mistakes or burdens choose your own adventure,
just like the books I read in school.
But hidden beneath this worn cover,
is a girl tattered and torn.

On the surface,
everything looks to be in sync.
On the inside,
it's all out of whack.

Fade...the surface.

Letting go is easier said than done, but time (and self-reliance) makes everything easier. Until then, I hope writing helps.
