Funny thing, mistakes

Not something that is right
Or wrong
Black or white

Mistakes can occur
Even when we believe,
Truly believe,
We are doing our best

How harshly the word
Can be used
                Having her was a mistake

Sometimes it is a question,
Do you think marrying him is a mistake?

There are times it is not apparent
Until years later
                 Haunted by mistakes

~*~

I’ve seen mistakes marry
Currently living these many years
                Happily ever after

I’ve seen mistakes
Born to adversity

I’ve watched people
Flail their fists in the face of harsh conditions
                 Farmers come to mind

When hardships cast
Dark shadows
                 Somewhere the light is shining

So is taking on adversity
A mistake?
Or human nature?

How can one not make a mistake,
Now and then,
If they are truly doing
The best they can?

Do I think
It was a mistake to awake
This morning?

The best I can do
Is emulate Franklin
Listing pros and cons
Even though the con might not gain weight
Until
And only then, when this
Life is experienced
With these, my lovely mistakes.

I think that...at some point every day, and sometimes all day. I guess it's best at times, to keep making the same mistake over and over....isn't it?

A fantastic observation. I have a thing for inspirational work, and this Lady is a first rate work of inspiration.

You do have a way.

Karilea,

I love this!  It is my philosophy toward creativity.  As a beginning art teacher by "mistake" after umpteen years as a regular classroom teacher (who was definitely unprepared to teach art upon request), my first lesson to the kids was about making mistakes.  I tell them they MUST make mistakes in my class, but not on purpose...  Those mistakes are gifts and the challenge of problem solving.  Meanwhile, I show them some of my really GROSS work contrasted to some pretty good stuff.

  We talk about how we don't learn everything at once and how mistakes can be teachers.  Then, I show them an oil stick painting that made me incredibly angry because it was SO bad.  Because I didn't have any oil sticks of my own and because I still wanted to play with them, I decided to experiment with the residue left on the gross painting.  The painting changed entirely from subject matter and mood.  It was a mistake turned into a very comfortable, maybe even beautiful piece of art.  The neat thing about this, is that my classes all stood up and clapped after this lesson.  {These were the same classes who frustrated their art teacher last year because they lacked interest and exhibited no creativity.}
I find them very creative!  They just needed to know that mistakes are human, and blessings in disguise.

Again, I love the message here and intend to place it on my shelves for reference!

hugs,

misce'

Now...to the library

Wouldn't you just know, I got so wrapped up in conversation that I forgot to check the library box.  Another mistake?  What can I say?

Sissie

Perhaps it is a mistake to use the word "mistake"....because life is too full to list them and sometimes they are our very best teachers.  How about taking the "mis" off and just calling them "takes"?

A thoughtful poem, sweety.....no mistake about that.

I have never thought of mistakes like that before, but I can't wait until I actually get the positive tail end of them.

Nice philosophy on the word and life as a whole-when you really think about it.

What a wonderful philosophical write, SIL.  A very wise friend of mine who is now on the other side once told me...."somemtimes, there are right wrongs.....sometimes there are correct mistakes.....and, there is no such thing as coincidence."  *hugs*....jo

a wonderful read
Karilea
brought up so many questions
thoughts
and I realized
most of my "mistakes"
became my best memories...
thank you

and even now, I still thank God, for some mistakes I have made, and for allowing me the wisdom to know not to make the same mistakes, again.

Kudos Kiddo!!

It's something that you have to think about. We try so hard to do things right but still we're going to make mistakes.

A powerful poem.

Thankyou for sharing.

Some of the greatest inventions are born of mistakes.
Great idea for a poem here sunshine.
