In a state of disrepair...

0 posted 2006-10-07 02:19 AM

The children left pair on pair
While I curse,swear and glare
I see then every widened stare
after that ill chose cargo ships
from the opening of my elder lips
does the aped cry of "bloody hell"
issue forth from theirs as well

"No, don't say that!" I beg
but it's too late now to renege
I have a dozen little ringing bells
taking joy from my "bloody hells"
Oh, why am I announced to be
Good With Children by decree
of relatives at every party

Until I'm left at night's end
with no arm free to extend
To beg a drink from passing aunts
without receiving looks askance
Covered year by year upon the floor
with sleeping children I abhor
and secretly adore.

Good With Children is a curse
Oh, never mind it could be worse.

"The world won't end in darkness, it'll end in family fun
With Coca Cola clouds behind a Big Mac sun."

smile...indeed it could be worse.

balloon animals came to mind, but it could be worse, nod.

As Dorothy Parker was once noted for saying, "One more drink and I shall be under the host."

It's the big kids y'gotta worry about.

You are making me smile tonight and I appreciate it.

Ah, excellent a Dorothy Parker quote

“I wish I could drink like a lady
I can take one or two at the most
Three and I'm under the table
Four and I'm under the host"

If memory serves

My favourite has to be:
"This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force"

"The world won't end in darkness, it'll end in family fun
With Coca Cola clouds behind a Big Mac sun."
