the church in toledo spain

golden sun has tucked itself
into a pocket of cloud
waiting for rain to pass
la gente
people on the street
have lost their color
walk pálido

a shelter
stained glass windows
cast no colors
no shadows
in this church

el niño is seated in glory
la virgen kneels on triangular rocks
begs her child
for consuelo
comfort
on her breast lie
petals de la rosa
pink and white
mirar
I whisper
Maria Isabel
   how?
   you ask
   Maria Isabel is gone
   laid behind another church

we kneel at la virgen’s pained feet
let me kiss el verde scapular
at your neck
you are gone
I grip the knuckle of my thumb
between my teeth

on la calle
rain torments me
stones
molten sulphur and pitch

and you are there
face wet
arms open
to give me consuelo dulce

Hey I didn't understand all the spanish there but that didn't stop me from being completely enthralled in this write. Perhaps added a touch of exotic mystique.
Hugs and rainy crayony days, Cheye xx

Sheer magic drips from your illustrious pen! I felt as though I was there with you and observing everything first hand! You are one fine contessa poetessa!

Estoy en la admiración de su talento.

And The Lady once again slowly slips back into the shadows, leaving her mark on all those who care to read, and dare to care.

I have been to Spain, tho it was only through your eyes.
