wake
with you inside me
you have followed me like a match
waiting to be struck
the fire won't start here
today is infinite
start with your hands on my legs
and work your way up
till no saint will stand behind me

cold weather brings
warm thoughts
a fire that no sheets
could invoke

there's no looking back
only time to wait for
a spark
to ignite your clothes
till your name is set on fire
and you burn
ashes of existence
trite
but well meant
no saint will stand behind me

but
you will
with your artist hands
every stroke of skin to skin
paint on a canvas
paint me the life I wish
burning
but not left to die out
I will be forever

I need no saint to stand behind me
