In a state of disrepair...

Don't you wish you could
write a song they'd sing
at the birth of a decade
with the world laughing?

I would but I'm tone-deaf
and I can't write one thing

A dance of waveform.
A sound to be mourned.
The song of a decade
New foundations laid
that'll echo tomorrow
Just full of our sorrow
an old love long gone
in cold burning xenon

A lyric of full meaning
and unrequited feeling.
A song of every matter.
A generations answer
to every question asked
of the future and the past.
One cannonball of vitriol
A sound wave to maul

Don't you wish you could
write a song they'd sing
at the end of all empires
when the world is rusting?

I would but I'm tone-deaf
and I can't write one thing.

"The world won't end in darkness, it'll end in family fun
With Coca Cola clouds behind a Big Mac sun."

One God by The Beautiful South
