Lady Of The Lake

On star filled nights as ripples break
She rises from beneath the lake
In shimmering gowns of pale moonlight
With silvery hair and skin of white

Dancing upon the water’s crest
With stardust pearls across her breast
As every wave begins to curl
She greets them with a gentle twirl

A timeless beauty without age
She flows across her watery stage
So gracefully she’ll pirouette
As moonlight frames her silhouette

She calls to me ‘cross waters deep
As I toss about in restless sleep
To join her there in fluid dance
Held captive in her mystic trance

Singing softly as she sways
I'm captured by her haunting gaze
She wraps me in her misty arms
I'm lost within her watery charms

I feel her cool soft fingertips
As she kisses me upon the lips
Then I awake in nervous sweat
My face and brow are soaking wet

But is it sweat that coats my face?
Or the essence of her sweet embrace?
Her beauty haunts each waking hour
Draining me of all willpower

I am afraid that very soon
I'll hear her gentle haunting tune
And not be able to awake
To resist the Lady of the Lake

Wonderful! My gosh, that word seems so over-used, yet it is exactly what this work is. The imagery, the flow, the meter. Moving and magical. This is absolutely, undeniably, characteristically, intristically, perfectly wonderful! A keeper, my poetic friend.

This has such a mystical, magical fairy-tale like quality to its romance.

I like it a lot.
