Man's children do not come to play
where the muskrat makes his home
in willowed turf along the marsh
ringed in grass-tufted banks combed gently
by summer’s whispering breezes.

They do not leave footprints across the sand
around encrusted shoals bathed in quiet tidepools
shimmering in slanting rays,
foam and feet mingling in pure delight
among white inverted clouds.

They do not step lightly across the threshold
of hushed, mysterious, misty woods
freshly spun of dappled emerald and jade,
wide-eyed with wonder to dance lightly
on carpets of bright scented stars
lingering sensuously on their spongy beds
through dreamy morning shadows.

Man’s children lost in a span of time
search for their world among darkened ruins
spawned of confusion, arrogance and fear;
their pain walled in by mad milling malls
their cries stifled in stagnant sunken streets
their questions left unanswered in the hellish din.

The quest is the children’s only future
and the answer, the key to life,
lies in the children’s intuition revealing
humanity has lost it’s way.

A brilliant setting...
We are called to the table,
each of us.

This is a great write!

powerfully written WindWalker!
it speaks to me...

Absolutely incredible! Intense, powerful, sensitive. One of the best poems I have ever read.

*standing in awe*
