afraid to love...
as one may ponder
chopping firewood
for fear of getting hurt -

but,
how else
to ward off
the frost?

I liked this. Honest.
Perhaps, the solution lies in kindling...once the fire is started...the warmth of that melts the apprehension.

I personally have felt this many times, though I have never been able to put the feeling into words. Thank you for doing so in such a concise and simple way. I think I will have to keep this one.

Earth Angel - Ahhh...but one must always keep on chopping - else the fire goes out...or, as they say, one must 'work' at a relationship...all that 'coasts' will eventually come to a stop...... P.S. No shortage of romantic miens....though, at times, run short of firewood.....heh.

ThisDiamond - Thank you, yes, the kindling is important....thus romance was invented, or more precisely it was there all along...just needed the spark.
