a reprise
for my muse...

twilight slips the bayou
charcoal man sits on verandah
back to railing
chouchoot between his knees
boy sees gator slidin’ by
makes o mouth
like his mama
charcoal man nods
   that ol caimon
   think you
   sweet meat
   stay ‘way y’hear?
keep yo fingers on yo hands

screen door flaps open
lady smiles on her men folk
sits in rocker
pushes back sweated hair
fans herself
chouchoot falters to her knee
she lifts him
fits his mouth to soft mound
rocks

across darkening light
music flows
oola malla walla dalla
charcoal man stretches long legs
adjusts shirt buttons
feet move to music
how long boy gonna do that
   bebette?
   he  walkin’ chile now

lady kisses fat cheek
chouchoot gives up sleepy
milky smile
he my baby still
gonna call him t’ char soon?

charcoal man smiles
pleased with himself
turns in direction of music
say loberta
oh poor loberta
girl you tell me where you been

lady takes chouchoot to his bed
kneels by her man
kisses under ear
sweet spot
slips half moon fingers in his
allons
moustique wanta eat you
leave nothing for me
she slips screen door open
quiet like
finger to red lip
shhhhh
the chouchoot

music is soft
tipitina tra la la la
whoa la la la-ah tra la la la
charcoal man looks to Panama
hanging on nail
lady passes him pair of eyes

she twirls her pretty self
sauce picante
lives in yonder now

You capture such a good feeling here...
The bayou, the sunset...well worn love.
Such pleasures.

Thank you so much!
