A Heartsong

I sing for you, a heartsong,
a song of love and peace,
though things will never be the same,
memory showers will never cease.

Notes like drops on a tin roof
in the quiet you rarely hear,
there is where I sing for you,
humming times I hold so dear.

It's not a sad song, mind you,
not bittersweet, but soft and slow,
like a lingering soulful gaze,
you've seen it before, I know.

I sing for you, a heartsong,
you've heard me before, I'm sure
because I've heard you sing along
when you, too, remember
how wonderful we were.

Your heart song is beautiful and I love that you remember those 'memory showers' -- I also love your poetry.

They say a picture holds a thousand words...

They say that smell is the scent that ties closest to memories...

I say, you've painted a beautiful poem and the sight of it conjures memories wafting from future's past....

Simply lovely,

We don't sing these, nearly often enough. Thanks for sharing yours with me this morning.

A lovely heartsong, Dixie.  Mine would be a bit more tumultuous - still getting, you see, to your stage on the "growth ladder".
