Nature of Attachments

The Dalai Lama says that some people
make the mistake of starting to look
upon relationships as permanant, and
so they form strong attachments to
family and friends, and to loved ones,
when in reality relationships are evolving,
and desintigrating, as all things will pass.
For the cycle is; we are born, we live,
we become sick and we die, and along the
way those that enter into our lives, will
exit from our lives, or we will exit theirs.
All those that form too strong of an
attachment, by thinking this life and its
relationships are permanant, are setting
themselves up for future suffering,
and will deny themselves the virtue
that all of us seek; to find
happiness and not to suffer.

I tend to have strong attachments to my love interests. I want to shackle them to the bedpost so they cannot get away! lol

Seriously speaking, sage Island Man, wisdom becomes you!

I like this.  We will always be disappointed by man (humans) because the only perfect one is Jesus, who should be our eternal attachment.

What goes around comes around, and comes around again, if it didn't we would never improve. Thats why they refer to it as everlasting life.

One thing I learned was to never get attached to anything or anybody. Just because of the reasons you wrote here.

I form attachments to everything and everybody.
I simply do not become attached to the attachment.  ::smiles::
