There doesn’t seem much to say tonight
I just sit quietly, fist against one cheek
Thinking of this whole need to write thing
It’s not that I have anything to write about
It’s not even that I write all that well
It’s just a conversation I hold in my mind
My body slows down and my mind just talks to me
There isn’t really that much to say tonight
Hints of luminous light meld with the dark horizon
I remember dark nights when my family would read
Music would play softly in the background
All was quiet and I knew what peace felt like
I knew what ‘family’ meant and family loved me unconditionally
I don’t have anything to say tonight
I just have memories that spin a tapestry to enfold me
These are the merely little vignettes of my history
I sometimes feel like the family historian
For I know it was not all bad or sad
Once we lit the night with knowledge, imagination and love
No, I have little to say tonight
But the little I have means so much to me.

"No, I have little to say tonight
But the little I have means so much to me."

it's a poignant little to say
