In New Zealand Amongst the Ancient Trees

Another sheet aloft
rises to the wind,
above the teak
which creaks,
and the Kevlar
sandwiched
within fibres of glass
becomes
a knife edge
running the blue
on a following,
rolling, rising twelve
high to low
planning the roll
close hauled on the wind
in a good nor east
southern ocean blow.
Trapezing in a bosun’s
Sixty feet above
Re-jigging a backstay
I find my thoughts
turning to you,
always thoughts
in mind of you,
wondering
what you might say
if you could see me now
and if you might
come with me,

next time?

Whether sea or sky "running the blue" is always better with a "you".  Good write, tp.  Could see and feel it.

Helen, always a pleasure to hear from you. I call it my 7 days in a leaky boat, with a crazy crew. Always wanted to climb the rigging of a tall ship, this was probably the closest I will get to it.

Maureen nice to see you. Was a great trip. Had a riot of a time. Never suffered from sea sickness in my life but after swinging in the rigging for an hour or so I was feeling a bit green around the gills when I got back on deck.

Good afternoon, time prophet! What a romantic you are! Beautiful piece... the ocean is a very powerful influence. Very nicely done.

Peace, Moonkist

p.s. I remember you from Bianca's YEARS ago... I also remember nakdthoughts and Helen, too.  Nice to see all of you again! :)

sounds wondeful
except for the "swinging in the rigging"
part
love the ending...

Moonkist, you will probably find a few more from Bianca's here. Welcome, what kept you away so long?

Magnus, there is something about sail that leaves all other forms of transport in it's wake. Plus the ocean holds a certain fascination, it can be both friend or foe and sometimes both at the same time.
